Gilding & Horological Metalwork

We offer a highly skilled range of traditional services covering every aspect of horological metal work.

GILDING is offered to all types of metal work using fine gold to give the most authentic and aesthtically pleasing finish, such that even the tiredest looking piece can be symapthetically restored to its former beauty.

Many clock cases and parts of them have become corroded, pitted, bent scratched or somewhat dull looking over the years. We are able to restore a whole range of fine finishes to parts, ranging from polished, to very fine satin, grained and burnished. Whatever is needed in fact to restore the piece to what was originally intended.

Where appropriate we are also fully skilled in the aplication of silver plating, multi coloured finishes , Black (oxydised silver), bronze, gold copper and silver. Virtually anything can be done to achieve the desired effect for the age and period of the piece without any hint of recent modern workmanship

Additionaly we are fully competent in manufacturing castings, or otherwise making any missing part and this extends to castings, engravings, chasing and repouse work. We also undertake skilled inlay work in mother of peral, Bulle,Tortoiseshell etc.

Our gilder and silversmith has 25 years of knowledge and experience in the business,. He has received commisions from Aspreys, numerous museums and important institutions and is a freeman of the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths . He has also been the recipient of the Goldsmith's Company's prestigious Jacques Cartier Memorial Award .

We are extremely proud of our ability to offer you a service that is absolutely second to none in this field
